Why I’ve just written my last blog!

Why is my last blog on Edinburgh Photography Workshop my last one? Find out why I'm not going to write blogs anymore

When I sat down on Monday to write a blog about the Princess of Wales photo, I had in my mind that it was going to be the last blog I would write. I started writing blogs on Edinburgh Photography Workshop in 2018, and since then, I have produced something most weeks. During that time, I had a seven-week trip to Namibia, broke my ankle and had months of lockdown during the pandemic. Despite all those things, I still carried on producing good quality content. So, why is it now that I have decided that my last blog has been written?

I have some exciting news, and I would love it if you would follow me on the next step of my adventure. The written word can be powerful, but I am, first and foremost, a visual person. That’s why I am finally launching video content with a new channel that I am calling Coffee Break Photography.

Why Coffee Break Photography?

When I started writing blogs, I had a few aims. I wanted to inform my audience about different aspects of photography, entertain them by creating content that people might want to read, and, most importantly, educate those who wanted to learn a little bit more about taking pictures. Those aims are going to be carried through to Coffee Break Photography.

So, why the name Coffee Break Photography? I know from my own experience watching videos that sometimes I don’t have the time to watch 45 minutes of content. That is why all the content on Coffee Break Photography can be viewed in the amount of time it takes to have a coffee break.

What’s your brew?

When I was a kid, we just had coffee. It was either Nescafe or Camp—we didn’t have a wide array of ways to serve the tasty brew. Now, we have many different offerings to serve hot water and coffee beans. So, as your barista of photography, I, too, will be serving up an array of picture-related content.

When the video is short and sweet, it will be badged as an Espresso video. It will be a few minutes long but still pack lots of punch. Slightly longer content, up to around ten minutes long, will be the norm for the videos I’ll be putting up. What’s more normal than an Americano? Something to sit down and contemplate with. Finally, the longer videos, where I’ll get into the details a little more and provide a mixture of content, will be my Hazelnut Mocha Latte – it’s got everything in it!

Where can you find Coffee Break Photography?

Every video will be posted on YouTube and shared on Edinburgh Photography Workshop dot com. Unlike my written blogs, I’ll not be posting once a week anymore. If there’s a small story that I think you’ll enjoy, I’ll serve up an espresso straight away.

I know one or two people on my mailing list told me that they like to read blogs. It’s probably because they don’t want to look at my face! Don’t worry. All the words I speak on Coffee Break Photography will be available below the video on Edinburgh Photography Workshop

I look forward to you joining me in your coffee breaks on Coffee Break Photography. I am off to Birmingham next week to attend The Photography Show, so it won’t be long until you get the next Espresso, Americano or Hazelnut Mocha Latte.
