Worldwide Photo Walk Edinburgh

Every year, photographer and educator, Scott Kelby organises a Worldwide Photo Walk on the first Saturday of October. Cities all around the world will have groups of up to 50 people meeting up and enjoying a few hours of photography. Last year, I hosted the Edinburgh event and I am really pleased to be doing the same again this year. I’d love for you to join me on the 5 October 2019.

What is the Worldwide Photo Walk?

It’s a social photography event where photographers get together to walk around, shoot photos, and have fun with other photographers. After the walk, participants have the opportunity to submit their best photo into a contest. It is totally free to join one of the walks. However, Scott Kelby has a charity he would like participants to support if they can. The Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya gets 100% of the funds donated when you sign-up to a walk and choose to donate.

Where is the Edinburgh Photo Walk?

This year, I have decided to start the walk with one of the best views of the city. We’ll start on the top of Calton Hill so we can get an amazing group shot with the city behind us. We are then going to head down the steps and make our way along Princes Street, with a few diversions into the Princes Street Gardens. We’ll then end the walk in the Grassmarket area where we can enjoy a drink or two and share pictures. We’ll start at 10 am and should be arriving at the Grassmarket around 1 pm.

Photo Contest, you say?

As part of the annual event, you can enter your best image taken during the walk into a contest. The overall prize winner will win a bumper hamper of photo-goodies including a Canon EOS M5 camera, Think Tank roller case, Adobe Creative Cloud membership and much more. Don’t worry if you don’t feel competitive, you can just attend the walk for fun and just enjoy taking pictures. I’ll also add a little prize of my own, the best image on the Edinburgh walk will get a £25 gift voucher to attend any Edinburgh Photography Workshop session.
